DAON ANIMAL is an independent, evidence-based pet-care blog. This Editorial Policy explains how our content is planned, researched, written, reviewed, and updated. Our goal is to give dog and cat owners information they can trust and verify.

Our mission is simple: to help pet parents notice medical and behavioral warning signs early, understand their pet's breed-specific risks, and make better-informed decisions in partnership with their veterinarian.

We are not a news site, a product review site, or a marketing site. We are a pet-parent-focused editorial project built around one belief — that most preventable suffering in companion animals comes from information gaps, not from lack of love.

👤 Who Writes DAON ANIMAL

DAON ANIMAL is written and edited by Daon, an independent pet-owner-turned-editor based in South Korea. Daon is not a licensed veterinarian. The blog is a research-and-editorial project, informed by 15 years of hands-on care for a senior Golden Retriever and by an ongoing review of veterinary literature.

Everything you read here is written from the perspective of an informed pet parent, not a clinician. Where medical judgment is needed, we point you back to a licensed veterinarian.

We follow a consistent editorial approach:

  • Owner-first language. Technical veterinary terms are always explained in plain English.
  • No fear-based clickbait. We do not use sensational or panic-driven language to attract clicks.
  • No diagnostic claims. We describe warning signs and risk factors, not diagnoses. Diagnosis belongs to a licensed veterinarian.
  • Breed-specific context. Where a condition is more common in certain breeds, we explain the "why" behind that risk, not just the "what."
  • Actionable takeaways. Every article should leave the reader with at least one concrete thing they can observe, ask their vet, or check at home.

✅ How We Verify

Before publication, each article is checked against the following standards:

  • Every major medical or behavioral claim can be traced to at least one reputable source.
