About
Welcome to DAON ANIMAL: Evidence-Based Guides for Dog & Cat Owners
In an online landscape overflowing with unverified advice, this blog is a dedicated space for evidence-based information. We move beyond common myths to provide veterinary-backed medical and behavioral insights essential for your pet's well-being.
The name DAON comes from a pure Korean word meaning "with goodness gathered in." It reflects the core mission of this blog: to gather trustworthy, verifiable pet care knowledge in one honest place.
🐾 My Story & The Mission Behind This Blog
Hello. I'm Daon, the founder of this space and the pet parent of Eden, my Golden Retriever of 15 years.
Caring for Eden through his senior years—with all the love and the steep learning curves that came with it—is what started this blog. I know the fear and helplessness a guardian feels when a voiceless companion falls ill, and how much difference it makes to have understood the warning signs earlier. That single experience is the reason DAON ANIMAL exists.
But I want to be honest with you about something important: I have not owned every breed I write about, and I won't pretend otherwise. My firsthand experience is with one dog and one breed. For every other breed, species, and condition covered here, this blog is a research-and-editorial project. I read veterinary clinical guidelines, breed-club health protocols, and peer-reviewed studies, then translate that dense material into clear, honest guides that answer the questions owners are genuinely struggling with.
I am not a veterinarian. What I offer is careful research, plainly explained, with every source listed so you can verify it yourself.
🔍 Quality & E-E-A-T Standards
To ensure the highest level of trust and safety in line with global search standards, all content on this blog adheres to these three core principles.
- Evidence-Based: Every post is grounded in data from reputable institutions such as the American Kennel Club (AKC), the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), and leading university veterinary research centers.
- Transparent Sourcing: Every article lists its sources at the bottom, so you can trace any claim back to its original veterinary or academic reference and confirm it for yourself.
- Rigorous Verification: We cross-reference information across the latest academic journals and veterinary clinical guidelines to minimize errors and maximize accuracy.
